Bank Rebate Terms & Full Disclosure

This page explains, in plain language, how bank rebates work for offices in the Love Your Tax Brand network — what is earned, how amounts are calculated, when rebates are paid, and the conditions that apply.

1. What a bank rebate is

Bank products (refund transfers, advances and similar products) are offered by third-party banks and their program partners. Those programs pay incentives to the offices and distribution partners that originate funded bank products. Love Your Tax Brand shares that bank-product incentive back with your office as a rebate.

A rebate is not a fee charged to your office, and it is not a share of your tax preparation fees. You keep 100% of the preparation fees you charge your clients. The rebate is paid out of the bank program incentive, not out of your client's refund.

2. How rebate amounts are determined ($8–$18 per bank product)

Rebates typically range from $8 to $18 per funded bank product. The exact amount per product varies because the underlying bank program incentive varies. Common factors include:

  • Which bank and which bank product the client selected.
  • The product type (for example, a refund transfer versus an advance product).
  • Total funded bank-product volume for your office during the season (higher volume tiers earn more per product).
  • The season's published bank program terms, which the banks set and may change season to season.
  • Whether the product actually funded and was not cancelled, reversed, or charged back.

Because of those factors, $8–$18 is a range of typical outcomes, not a guaranteed or fixed amount per product. No specific total rebate amount is promised or guaranteed.

3. What this means for your office

In practical terms: the more funded bank products your office processes, the more of the bank program incentive comes back to your office. It works like a volume-based rebate — the pool grows with your bank-product volume, and it is paid to your office in addition to the preparation fees you keep in full.

It is a standard, disclosed rebate of a bank-product incentive between business partners. It is not a split of client fees, not a referral payment for sending clients anywhere, and it is never contingent on a client choosing a particular refund amount or outcome.

4. Eligibility

  • Active EFIN in good standing with the IRS, and an approved enrollment with the bank program.
  • Enrollment with Love Your Tax Brand / Tax Brand Systems completed before products are transmitted.
  • Bank products must be transmitted under the office's enrolled EFIN and approved bank program.
  • Free software offers require the qualifying funded bank-product volume stated at enrollment (25+ funded bank products).
  • Accounts in violation of bank program rules, IRS rules, or our terms are not eligible.

5. Payment timing

  • Rebates accrue on funded bank products as the season progresses.
  • Rebate reconciliation begins after the bank program reports final funded volume for the season.
  • Qualifying rebate payments are generally issued in July following the filing season, after reconciliation and after any chargebacks, reversals, and unfunded products are removed.
  • Payment is made by ACH or check to the business account on file. Accurate banking and W-9 information must be on file before payment can be released.
  • Timing depends on the bank program's own reporting and settlement schedule and may shift if a bank's reporting is delayed.

6. Adjustments, chargebacks and offsets

Rebates are earned only on bank products that actually fund. Cancelled, reversed, rejected, fraudulent, or charged-back products are removed from the rebate calculation. Outstanding balances owed to us or to the bank program (including bank fees, pre-season loan balances, or add-on service charges) may be offset against rebate amounts before payment.

7. Required disclosures and regulatory language

  • Bank products are offered by third-party financial institutions and are subject to those institutions' own terms, disclosures, approval, and underwriting. Love Your Tax Brand is not a bank, is not a lender, and does not approve, fund, or guarantee any bank product, advance, or loan.
  • Pre-season office loans and taxpayer advance products are subject to bank underwriting and approval. Not all applicants qualify. Amounts advertised (including "up to $7,000") are maximums, not offers of credit.
  • You are responsible for complying with all applicable federal and state law governing your practice, including IRS Circular 230, IRC §7216 taxpayer consent requirements for the use and disclosure of taxpayer information, the FTC Safeguards Rule / Gramm-Leach-Bliley requirements, state tax preparer registration and bonding rules, and all bank program disclosure requirements. Clients must always be given the bank's own fee disclosures and must always be free to choose whether to use a bank product.
  • Bank products may never be required as a condition of tax preparation, and rebate participation must never influence the advice you give a client or the accuracy of any return.
  • Rebates paid to your office are business income to you. We do not provide tax or legal advice regarding your rebates; consult your own advisor. Reportable amounts are reported as required by law (for example, IRS Form 1099).
  • Program terms, rebate ranges, and offers are subject to change, may vary by bank and by season, and are void where prohibited. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of income, volume, or results.
